I am going to ask questions from Section C2-b in Chapter 8 of our text. I think these questions are relevant because I chose the book: "The Great Spaghetti Mystery"
1. Consider different possibilities for the most "interesting" or "surprising" part?
2. Think about WHY this part was interesting or surprising?
3. Tell WHAT was interesting or surprising.
4. Give an example from the text.
5. Tell WHY you were interested or surprised.

ReplyDeleteThe book you've chosen sounds fun and exciting! :) One thing I've really learned from our "Great Answers" book is choosing the right text is crucial to each answer frame, and it sounds like you've really put a lot of thought into correlating your text of choice to the lesson. I also think you've done a wonderful job choosing grade appropriate objectives. I feel choosing different possibilities for different parts of the story is a higher DOK objective and will require lots of thought and creativity from your students, which is always a great thing! I'm excited to see your results. Great job!
I like that you're not just focusing on her choosing a part, but also having your student explain why. I'm not familiar with the book you've chosen but from the title, it sounds very appropriate to the questions you are asking your student! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI also think this book sounds interesting, I will have to check it out! I think that these activities will be great for Miss Judah since she doesn't seem to be a struggling reader and has excellent comprehension skills. I agree with Caitlin in that it is great that you aren't just asking what, but also the why. I am excited to see how Miss Judah does with these questions!
